The Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia is one of the most ancient musical institution in the world (it was founded in 1585). Its activities embrace many sectors of cultural life. Concerts are the core and take place in the new Rome Auditorium-Parco della Musica. Beyond this lies a very important cultural heritage: a digital library, a collection of musical instruments, a collection of recordings of oral traditional music (the most important in Italy), an ancient documental archive, a photothèque. The Accademia is also involved in musical education at a very high level with courses, masterclasses, held by outstanding musicians, composers, etc..
