Erfurt University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1991, shortly after the “new Land” of Thuringia became part of the reunified Federal Republic of Germany. The Erfurt University of Applied Sciences focuses on practical and applied education, and undertakes a wide range of research projects.
In 2006, FHE established an interdisciplinary research focus of “Interactive Media” involving several academic disciplines, such as Applied Computer Science and Social Work. Particular emphasis is laid on applied research and the provision of support for small and medium-sized companies in the region.
The Computer Graphics Group of Erfurt University of Applied Sciences was founded in 2004 as part of the Applied Computer Science department. The key working areas of the Group include research in field of image worlds and authoring environments for multimedia and VR applications. Therefore, the multimodal combination of multimedia content like images, 2D and 3D is one of the main tasks for the group.
